Well I Never!!!!!!

I can spill the beans now that my little one year old "name twin"'s birthday has been!
Let me explain!
A lady contacted me a little while ago asking if she could commission one of my little name papercut for her grand daughter who would be one year old at the end of august.
After the initial surprise that this lady's surname was the same as mine, imagine my greater surprise when she announced that her grand daughter is called Sylvie Howitt!
How lovely! So there it is! I had never thought of cutting my own name before!

And yes! you probably want to know if we are related!  I invited this lady and her husband for a visit and a  cup of tea as they only live 20 mn away at the most and we established that we could possibly be related as there are not many Howitt's around.
Maybe one day, we'll do some research in our family tree and so we'll find out!

A Wedding!

Congratulations to my great friends who are getting married in Brittany this week end.
It was a lovely challenge to picture each of them in a small papercut for their wedding invitation and what better way to do this than to use maps to show where they both come from!
So here we have it, the tall Brighton musician  and the dainty Bretton french linguist from Arradon with nothing between them but blue sea!
Wishing you a truly fantastique day!
Cheers! Salut! Sante!

Coombe Barn, Swanborough for ArtWave 2011 The Visual Art festival for Lewes district.

I have just set up my artwork alongside Emma Troy's wonderful collages and other locals artists and craftmakers in a beautiful barn in Swanborough.  There is also the amazing  Fine Art of Foraging Exhibition in the outdoor barn.
It is set in lovely countryside, with amazing views from the garden, it is definitely worth a visit! if anything for a cup of tea and cake in the garden!

There are two other venues along Swanborough Drove too.
If you can still get hold of a copy of the free magazine latest 7/Latest Homes you will find full listing of venues with maps etc.
Or you can visit the ArtWave 2011 online Artwave 2011
See you soon!
Here is a little preview of Coombe Barn!

From this, to this!

The blackberries were looking abundant and tasty at our allotment and this year we were determined not to waste them to the birds.
So with the anticipation of tasty milkshakes and muffins, we all dodged the nettles and the thorns and picked the blackberries on our plot.  But so abundant they were that we also picked a few apples to make a seedless blackberry and apple jam.  De-Li-Cious!
We have a few jars of the runny one (perfect on ice cream! I have been told by my lovely neighbour!) and the solid one made with my hubby's home made pectin! (pectin made from apples picked at the allotment too).
Needless to say that I already have consumed a couple of jars for breakfast and each mouthful brings back childhood memories of my Maman making  blackberry jam when we lived in Brittany.
Truly lovely. ;)
