Shoreham Airport celebrating the 100th anniversary of the Central Flying School

Shoreham is a lovely town with many great assets, one of them being the local Airport and of course the Shoreham Art Gallery where I have some of my artwork for sale .
To celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Central Flying School the airport is putting on a Battle Of Britain Airshow on the 1st -2nd September.

A must visit for RAF enthusiasts and planes connoisseurs!

To show our support, the Shoreham Gallery is putting on a display of aviation art.

I had been planning to make a contribution wondering how I would cut out a plane out of paper etc, when to my delight my husband came across a copy of an old book called Reach For The Sky, depicting the life of Douglas Bader .
The title pleased me and inspired me, so I set out to use my cutting skills in a different way by doing a couple of linocuts!
I had fun printing on pages of this old book, trying to pick the best ones where the text had positive meanings etc.  That was tricky without reading the whole book as time was an issue!
So here are the results, proudly on show in the window of The Shoreham Gallery .
